I joined my girlfriend's personal trainer sessions initially as I wanted to try to stay fit, and due to my ADHD I struggle with executive dysfunction, but going with my girlfriend was a reliable way to get me to workout.

Along the way, working out usually every Saturday, my mental health would noticeably improve thanks to the workout. Additionally, when I returned to my physically demanding warehouse job after having been temporarily laid off due to a lack of work, I found it massively easier to reacclimatize my body to the physical strain my job took on me. This meant I both wasn't as exhausted after my shifts, and my muscles weren't anywhere as strained, which has been a massive positive for me.

I've been getting back into shooting Olympic-style recurve after having taken a 2+ year break from archery generally, and working out at the personal trainer sessions definitely helped me with the process of rebuilding the necessary muscles needed to shoot. Aside from that, I've also struggled massively before my 2+ year break with properly engaging my back muscles when shooting, as I lacked the understanding and training to be able to accurately engage the necessary muscles.

Since getting back into archery, I've started to be able to properly engage my back muscles when shooting, and although it is still a work in progress to make that more or less muscle memory during each shot it has still been incredibly helpful, and has helped me gain some confidence that I should be able to improve past where I was at my best before I took my break.

I met Jacob in September 2021 at GoodLife Fitness. I had been with GoodLife for about 10 years sometimes going diligently, sometimes for long periods, not at all. In 2021 I decided I wanted a trainer to really get serious about the gym again. Once I started with Jacob I WANTED to be there. And I did my best to make it. Sometimes for me, life got in the way and I couldn't make it. When that happened, I gave a heads up as soon as possible and Jacob was always understanding. But for the most part I would make it, and Jacob texts me in the morning to get me motivated, just a text of “we still good?” nothing overbearing, and it gets me going. I believe he knows how to reach each individual on their own terms.

As for the workout itself- you can take a lot from Jacob’s teachings. In person and outside of the session. For example he has all of our stuff recorded - reps, weight amount, etc. so that he knows exactly where I am at for each session, but he also takes into consideration how I am feeling that day and how long since our last session, etc. Etc. So as to create the best possible experience and outcome for me each and every time. He will also give you home workouts for if you're on vacation or out of town, to keep you going if you’re not available to be at the gym. He is also always there to help you with whatever part of your body is ailing you. Usually stretches are key. And he knows the combinations to help relieve any pain or issues. He also has credentials for all of this. If you have any questions about that, just ask him. He had Learned a lot through extensive training sessions with GoodLife since I have been his client. Anything that could give him more knowledge: Jacob signed up.
It is my belief he plans to be a physiotherapist. No matter what he chooses to do, Jacob will be successful. I'm happy to be his client and I hope for many more years to come.

Not too long ago the GoodLife facility we started at closed and left their trainers and clients kind of scrambling. Once we were hit with the news, Jacob decided to put together his own fitness business. In the following month that we had left at GoodLife, he had secured a spot at the BrickHouse, where we currently train. One window shut; a huge door opened. When Jacob was considering  BrickHouse as a venue for training,  I was like “yay” because that’s very close to me. But I would have followed him to any gym to resume our training because we have such a good rapport. I recommend him highly.
It wasn't only me who followed him to the new training facility. Many of his other clients continue with him to this day.

I’m definitely glad to have started training with Jacob. And you will too.
